A controlled engineering document that defines and identifies all instruments within a facility or project.
An Instrument List (IL) is a master engineering document that records every instrument installed within a process facility, including tag numbers, service descriptions, instrument types, specifications, process connections, locations and associated design data. It serves as the primary reference for instrumentation design, procurement, construction, commissioning and maintenance.
The Instrument List provides a single authoritative register of field instrumentation throughout the asset lifecycle.
Instrument Lists are developed during detailed engineering and maintained throughout construction, commissioning and operations as instruments are installed, modified or replaced.
An Instrument List identifies physical field instruments, whereas an I/O List identifies the signals exchanged between those instruments and the control system.
