ASME Section VIII — Pressure Vessels Code Section

The section of the ASME BPVC that establishes requirements for the design and construction of pressure vessels.

Definition

ASME BPVC Section VIII specifies engineering requirements for the design, materials, fabrication, examination, inspection, testing and certification of pressure vessels operating above specified pressure limits. It provides rules for constructing pressure-retaining equipment used throughout the process, chemical, petroleum and energy industries and is divided into multiple divisions covering different design approaches.
