A certification issued by ASME authorizing manufacturers to construct new pressure vessels in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
The ASME U Certificate of Authorization, commonly referred to as the U Stamp, is issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to manufacturers authorized to design and construct new pressure vessels in accordance with Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
The ASME U Stamp certifies manufacturers to construct new pressure vessels in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
Manufacturers holding a U Certificate of Authorization are subject to ASME quality system requirements, Authorized Inspection and ongoing compliance with the applicable provisions of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
The ASME U Stamp authorizes manufacturers to construct new pressure vessels, whereas the National Board R Stamp authorizes qualified organizations to perform repairs and alterations on existing pressure-retaining equipment.
