R-Stamp — National Board Repair Certification Stamp

A certification issued by the National Board authorizing organizations to perform repairs and alterations on pressure-retaining equipment.

Definition

The National Board R Certificate of Authorization, commonly referred to as the R Stamp, is issued by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) to organizations that have demonstrated the capability to perform repairs and alterations on boilers, pressure vessels and other pressure-retaining equipment in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).

The National Board R Stamp certifies organizations to perform repairs and alterations on pressure-retaining equipment in accordance with the NBIC.

In Practice

Organizations holding an R Certificate of Authorization are subject to National Board quality system requirements, periodic audits and compliance with the repair and alteration provisions of the National Board Inspection Code.
