Inspection Record

A VisualAIM platform business object representing an engineering inspection and the findings generated from that inspection.

Definition

Within the VisualAIM platform, an Inspection Record represents a completed or planned engineering inspection performed on an asset or group of assets. Inspection Records capture inspection scope, methods, observations, measurements, supporting evidence and associated findings, providing the primary inspection history for the inspected asset throughout its operational lifecycle.

Why It Matters

Inspection Records provide the primary record of engineering inspections and their associated findings throughout the asset lifecycle.

In Practice

Inspection Records may generate one or more Non-Conformance Records and Recommendations where inspection results identify conditions requiring engineering evaluation or corrective action.

Common Misuse

An Inspection Record documents the inspection itself, whereas a Non-Conformance Record documents an individual finding or condition identified during that inspection.
