FEED typically includes process design, equipment selection, plot plans, major specifications, preliminary engineering documents and execution planning.
FEED reduces project risk by establishing a well-defined technical basis before detailed engineering and procurement commence.
A typical FEED package includes process flow diagrams, preliminary P&IDs, equipment specifications, layout drawings, design basis documents and capital cost estimates with defined accuracy ranges.
FEED is performed after conceptual engineering and before detailed engineering, providing the technical foundation for Approved for Design and Approved for Construction deliverables.
