The Asset Hierarchy Register (AHR) is the authoritative register that defines the logical and physical relationships between sites, facilities, process units, systems, functional locations, equipment and subordinate assets. It establishes the enterprise asset hierarchy used for engineering, operations, maintenance and asset information management.
A well-designed Asset Hierarchy Register enables consistent asset identification, reporting, maintenance planning, reliability analysis and integration between engineering systems, CMMS, ERP platforms and Digital Twins.
AHR provides the structural framework for Asset Registers, Functional Locations and Asset Tags. It forms the foundation upon which Asset Information Management systems organize and relate engineering and maintenance information.
An Asset Hierarchy Register defines relationships between assets rather than storing the detailed technical information associated with each individual asset.
