A Custom SAP Asset Hierarchy (Z-Structure) is a customer-defined hierarchical asset structure implemented within SAP using custom developments or configuration to organize functional locations, equipment or other asset information according to organization-specific operational, engineering or business requirements. Z-Structures provide flexibility where the standard SAP asset hierarchy does not fully satisfy organizational information management needs.
Custom SAP Asset Hierarchies extend the standard SAP asset model to support organization-specific asset management and information requirements.
Z-Structures are commonly implemented to improve reporting, navigation, system integration and engineering information management while maintaining compatibility with the standard SAP Enterprise Asset Management data model.
