RT — Radiographic Testing

A non-destructive testing method that uses ionizing radiation to examine the internal condition of materials and welded joints.

Definition

Radiographic Testing (RT) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method that uses X-rays or gamma rays to detect internal discontinuities, defects and variations within materials, welds and manufactured components. The resulting radiographic images enable qualified personnel to evaluate internal integrity without damaging the test object.
