A permanent technical record documenting the execution, results and conclusions of an inspection together with the condition of the asset at the time of examination.
An Inspection Record is the permanent technical record created following completion of an inspection activity. It captures the equipment inspected, inspection scope, inspection methods, personnel involved, measurements obtained, observations, photographs, identified degradation mechanisms, inspection findings, recommendations and engineering conclusions. Inspection Records provide the historical evidence required to demonstrate regulatory compliance, support future engineering assessments, trend degradation over time and justify inspection interval decisions. Within digital asset integrity systems they also provide the auditable link between inspection activities, maintenance work orders, engineering assessments and equipment history, forming an essential component of the asset's lifecycle record.
Inspection Records provide the permanent historical evidence needed to demonstrate compliance, evaluate equipment condition, support engineering decisions and maintain complete traceability throughout the asset lifecycle.
Inspection Records form part of the permanent equipment history and are commonly retained for the operational life of the asset to support audits, engineering assessments, remaining life evaluations and future inspection planning.
An Inspection Record documents completed inspection results, whereas an Inspection Plan defines the inspections to be performed before work begins.
