Inspection Finding

A VisualAIM platform business object representing an observation, condition, defect or other notable result identified during an engineering inspection.

Definition

Within the VisualAIM platform, an Inspection Finding represents any observation, condition, measurement, defect or other noteworthy result identified during an engineering inspection. Inspection Findings provide the basis for engineering evaluation and may result in the creation of Non-Conformance Records, Recommendations or other follow-up activities depending on their significance.

Why It Matters

Inspection Findings capture the engineering observations and conditions identified during inspections for evaluation and follow-up.

In Practice

Not all Inspection Findings require corrective action. Findings may be informational, acceptable, advisory or require engineering assessment before further action is determined.

Common Misuse

An Inspection Finding records an observation made during an inspection, whereas a Non-Conformance Record is created only where a finding requires formal management and remediation.
