Corrosion Management

The systematic process of identifying, monitoring and controlling corrosion risks throughout the asset lifecycle.

Definition

Corrosion Management is the coordinated application of engineering practices, inspection, monitoring, materials selection, mitigation methods and maintenance activities to control corrosion-related risks and maintain asset integrity throughout the operational life of equipment and facilities.

Why It Matters

Effective Corrosion Management reduces the likelihood of failures, extends equipment life, improves safety and lowers lifecycle costs by proactively managing degradation mechanisms.
