CoC — Certificate of Conformance

A document certifying that a product, material or service complies with specified requirements.

Definition

A Certificate of Conformance (CoC) is a formal document issued by a manufacturer, supplier or contractor declaring that a delivered product, material or service complies with the applicable specifications, standards, purchase order requirements and contractual obligations. The certificate typically references the relevant standards, inspection records and supporting quality documentation.

Why It Matters

A CoC provides documented evidence of compliance, supports quality assurance processes and assists with material traceability and regulatory requirements.

In Practice

A Certificate of Conformance is frequently supplied with equipment and materials as part of manufacturing records and may reference Material Test Reports, inspection records or factory acceptance documentation.

Common Misuse

A Certificate of Conformance declares compliance with specified requirements but normally contains less detailed technical information than a Certified Material Test Report.
