A Tag Attribute List (TAL) is a controlled engineering document that defines the attributes, data fields, formats and validation requirements associated with Tags and the engineering objects they identify. It establishes the information requirements necessary to support engineering, operations, maintenance and lifecycle information management.
Tag Attribute Lists define the engineering information associated with Tags and the assets, systems and engineering objects they identify.
Tag Attribute Lists commonly define mandatory attributes, naming conventions, data types, validation rules and relationships used to ensure consistent engineering information across multiple systems.
A Tag Attribute List defines the information required for each Tag, whereas a Tagging Specification defines the overall rules governing Tag identification and assignment.
