OPC HDA — OPC Historical Data Access

The OPC Classic specification for accessing archived process and historian data.

Definition

OPC Historical Data Access (OPC HDA) is the OPC Classic specification that standardizes access to historical process data stored in industrial historians and archive systems. It enables software applications to retrieve recorded values, summaries and time-series information using a consistent vendor-independent interface.

In Practice

OPC HDA provides standardized access to historical process information but has largely been superseded by OPC Unified Architecture, which incorporates historical data capabilities within a unified architecture.
