MAOP — Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure

The maximum pressure at which a pipeline or pressure system may be operated safely under specified conditions.

Definition

Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) is the highest pressure at which a pipeline or other pressure system is permitted to operate under normal service conditions. It is established in accordance with applicable design codes, regulatory requirements and engineering assessments to ensure safe and reliable operation throughout the asset's service life.
