XRD — X-Ray Diffraction Testing

A non-destructive analytical technique used to identify the crystalline structure, phases and residual stresses within materials.

Definition

X-Ray Diffraction Testing (XRD) is a materials characterization technique that uses the diffraction of X-rays by crystalline structures to identify material phases, determine crystallographic properties, measure residual stresses and evaluate microstructural characteristics. XRD is widely used in materials engineering, metallurgy, corrosion studies and failure investigations.
