4D BIM — 4D Building Information Modeling

The integration of three-dimensional models with project scheduling information to support construction planning and execution.

Definition

4D Building Information Modeling (4D BIM) extends traditional 3D models by integrating project scheduling and sequencing information. This approach is commonly known as 4D Scheduling. Linking model elements to construction activities enables visualization of construction progress, simulation of installation sequences and improved planning, coordination and project execution.
