Intelligent Drawings Assessment
MI Score

Your program is
transitional.

This is the most common state among mid-sized refining, chemical, and midstream operators. The program is functional. It will pass a basic audit. It will not withstand scrutiny on the quality and currency of the underlying data.

What does this mean?
Your data foundation is set - but could be improved.
Progress has been made. Drawings exist digitally, redlines get captured, and the team generally knows where to find things. The problem is the handoff. Changes sit in a markup state longer than they should. Reconciling them into authoritative records takes manual effort and often gets deprioritized. Drawings are consulted during operations, but they don't actively feed the MI program, the CMMS, or inspection planning in any structured way.
Your benchmark
You're in the middle of the road.
This is the most common state among refining, midstream, and chemical operators modernizing legacy environments. The foundation is there. but the gap is in the process that runs on top of it.
Here's what we recommend
01
Put change management on a schedule.
Redline capture without a defined closure process is just a slower version of the paper problem. Assign ownership, set a maximum open time for field changes, and track the backlog actively. Most organizations already have the data. They need the workflow around it.
02
Link drawings directly to work orders and inspection plans
A technician pulling up a work order should see the current P&ID without opening a second system. That single connection removes a step that gets skipped under time pressure and reduces the version risk that comes from people working off whatever they pulled last time.
03
Convert circuit data into a structured format
PDF and CAD drawings hold a lot of information that cannot be queried, filtered, or referenced programmatically. Extracting piping circuit boundaries, equipment tags, and material data into a structured layer is what connects drawing intelligence to the MI and RBI workflows downstream.

Convert drawings into
digital twins, in seconds.

Turn static P&IDs into connected, data-rich asset systems that bring context, inspection history, and operational insight into one place.
